At William Reed Business Media we believe our active support and close relationships with our community and local charities set us apart from other businesses.
Charity support is important to our company and our employees. Through the William Reed Charitable Fund, we provide financial support to social welfare projects in conjunction with charities and community groups based in Sussex and the surrounding areas. We work in partnership with the Sussex Community Foundation who help us to choose suitable projects and distribute the money for maximum benefit.
Our staff are also encouraged to raise money for their chosen local and national charities, through the William Reed Charitable Fund. In acknowledgment of employee fundraising efforts, our match-funding scheme supports their activities by means of a corresponding company donation.
In the last year, we have supported the following charities:
- Macmillan Cancer Support.
- St Peter & St James Hospice.
- The Alzheimer's Society.
- Children in Need.
- Wine & Spirit Trades Benevolent Society.
- NCYPE (National Centre for Young People with Epilepsy).
- Cancer Research UK.
- The Rainbow Trust Children's Charity.
There are many ways to give back to the community, and it’s not always about money. We work closely with West Sussex Education Business Partnership and encourage our staff to get involved in education initiatives, mostly by volunteering in careers-based activities with local schools.
We are delighted to have recently become involved with the Catch 22 Magazine and Academy. The aim of the scheme is to ensure that young people are given the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the media industry and showcase their talent. Catch 22 Academy incorporates journalist training to give aspiring young people with limited, or no, professional experience the chance to contribute to a youth culture magazine; William Reed Business Media is supporting Catch 22 by offering one month internships.
